Summer & Winter Schedules

Summer Time Operations: May through September

  • Long Range Events are CANCELLED for the summer.
  • Sign up for main match starts around 7:15 am at the Stat House
  • Main Match starting around 8 am at the Shooters Meeting area.

Winter Time Operations: October to April

  • Long Range Events start at 7 am on the High Power Bays.
  • Sign up for main match starts around 8:15 am at the Stat House.
  • Main Match starting around 9 am at the Shooters Meeting area
  • New Shooter Orientation starts around 3 p.m. the friday before a match.

LR sign up is from 7:00 am to 7:15 am NO EXCEPTIONS
Be sure to get there early...
(If you shoot long range match you will need to stick around and help pick up targets when we are done, the cart will be there for this purpose. LR Match should be done by 8:30 am and picked up by 8:45 am leaving time for signup for the Main Match.)


Main Matches

Our Cowboy Action Shooting matches are the first Saturday of each month on the Practical Pistol Range at the Rio Salado Sportsmans Club.

    • Match fee $12.00 for cowboy club members and $15.00 for non-cowboy club members.

    Volunteers fee $3.00 for Rio Salado Sportsmen's Club members and $5.00 for non-Rio Salado Sportsmen's Club members.

    Side Match Events fee $5 per person to shoot any or all events.

    Main & Side Match

    The main match will consist of between four and eight stages(depending on weather and the number of contestants) in which we will fire on steel targets. Scoring will be based on accuracy and speed.See the New Shooters page for ammo needs

    Prior to the main match there will be long range pistol and rifle events held on the High Power range on the north end of the Practical Pistol bays. These side events are cancelled during from June through September of each year due to the extreme heat Categories are Long Range Pistol, Lever Rifle-Pistol Caliber, Lever Rifle-Rifle Caliber and Single Shot. The cost for shooting these side match events is $5.00 per person. Fees are paid at the site of the long range match - NOT at the stat house. As for lunch time, we used to have the kids rifle team come out and make burgers and dogs for lunch... but that didn't work out for some reason. Up at the main public shooting area there is a lunch coach if you don't bring your own.

    The Stat House

    Once you turn in on the blacktop drive you make your way almost to the main public range then turn right, loop to the right, just after the blacktop ends. Then look for the Stat house to sign up.
    Long Range

    If you wish to shoot in the Long Range part of the match then go to the Long Range area to sign up for those events. If you wish to check us out for the first time at a Friday night Mini-Match then find the Shooters Meeting area.
    Shooters Area

    We have benches in our Shooter Meeting area where folks with something to sell may be out displaing their wares. So if you think you have an item you would like to sell or trade, bring it out.
